There are many examples of using bacteria in mineral processing in China, such as bacteria leaching from a copper mine in Guangdong province, a copper mine in Anhui province, and a copper mine in Hunan province.
A deposit in China belongs to a sedimentary copper deposit.Copper ores mainly include secondary copper sulfide, followed by secondary copper sulfide accounting for 79%, primary copper sulfide accounting for 9% and copper oxide accounting for 12%.The main gangue minerals are quartz and feldspar.

The leachate was filtered by clarified sand, then four-stage extraction was performed with 7% N510 solution of 200 solvent oil, and the extraction rate was 85%.The content of organic phase copper loaded was 1.4g/L, and the waste electrolyte containing 200g/L of sulfuric acid and 40g/L of copper was used for tertiary reverse extraction, with the reverse extraction rate reaching 99%.Composition of copper-rich soution: 45g/L of copper, 200g/L of sulfuric acid, 6.5g/L of iron.
At the time of electrodeposition, lead-antimony alloy plates containing 8% antimony were used as anode, stainless steel plates as cathode, trough voltage was 1.9-2.1V, current density was 111A/m2, homopolar distance was 100mm, copper-rich solution flow rate was 5.6L /min.
Because of the long leaching cycle and low leaching rate, the popularization and application in production are limited.For some poor mines, bacterial leaching has its advantages.
