The adsorption test results of mMAC-10 and MAC-15 magnetic carbon (both made of coconut shell) by Metal Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences showed that the magnetic activated carbon had higher adsorption speed (5% ~ 20% faster) and adsorption capacity compared with ordinary coconut shell carbon, as shown in figure 8.2-1, figure 8.2-1 and table 8.2-1.
Table 8.2-1 comparison of gold carrying capacity and desorption of coconut shell carbon and magnetic carbon
content | Coconut shel carbon | Magnetic carbonMAC-10 |
Gold content after adsorption /kg·t-1 Amount of gold loaded after desorption /kg·t-1 desorption rate /% |
11.2 0.43 96 |
14.6 0.73 95 |
The desorption rate table 8.2-1 shows that the desorption rate of magnetic gold-loaded carbon is also very easy, and the desorption rate is similar to that of coconut shell activated carbon
Since most ores contain some magnetic minerals, natural magnetic minerals must be removed from the slurry prior to carbon adsorption and iron powder produced during grinding to prevent dilution and increased leaching agent consumption. This step is equivalent to the pre-dip chip removal of normal carbon in pulp process.
